There’s still time to get free plants at the Arbor Day giveaway presented by the Kaua‘i Landscape Industry Council at the Kukui Grove Center parking lot where the Pau Hana Market takes place on Mondays … Hurry, when the supplies run out, or noon, the giveaway ends.
Retired General Mary Kay Hertog and the Kaua‘i Veterans Council will pay tribute to all veterans during the Kaua‘i Veterans Celebration that’s taking place at 10 a.m. at the Historic County Building, where food trucks are scheduled to line the center stage on the access road connecting Eiwa Street to Umi Street … don’t forget the annual Kaua‘i Veterans Council presents the annual Veterans Day ceremony on the 11th hour of the 11th month at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The Lonesome Grave project, founded 25 years ago by the Kaua‘i United Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association to place flowers and greenery at every, or as many as supplies allow, grave in the veterans cemetery, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary when the group of ladies and volunteers place flowers on Nov. 10 ahead of the Nov. 11 ceremonies. For those who have extra flowers and greenery to share, they can call the Kapa‘a Hongwanji, the Lihu‘e Hongwanji or West Kaua‘i Hongwanji before Nov. 10.
And a reminder that Edwin Vea and The Beach House Restaurant host a monthly craft fair with more than 50 vendors on Sunday from 9 a.m., and Hanapepe’s Biggest Little Carnival continues from 10 a.m. Sunday in the area behind Hanapepe Stadium and baseball fields.
