LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Landscape Industry Council (KLIC) will be celebrating Arbor Day on Nov. 4 by giving away up to 1,000 trees from 9 a.m. to noon, while supplies last at Kukui Grove Center.
LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Landscape Industry Council (KLIC) will be celebrating Arbor Day on Nov. 4 by giving away up to 1,000 trees from 9 a.m. to noon, while supplies last at Kukui Grove Center.
Among the trees being distributed are a number of native plants, such as Alahe‘e, Munroidendron (which was featured during the 60th reaffirmation sister city relationship between Kaua‘i and Suo Oshima, Japan), Mamake, Uhiuhi and native Hibiscus species.
People desiring the free trees are encouraged to visit the event early because when all of the trees are given away, or at noon, whichever takes place first, the event will close.
In addition to the tree giveaway, the KLIC returns the popular educational partner exhibits and Keiki Planting Zone. The Keiki Planting Zone is available to provide a fun activity that teaches young people how to transplant and grow young seedlings that they take with them to cultivate at home.
Growing through the 19 years, the KLIC has been doing the Arbor Day giveaway, the education partners provide the event attendees crucial information on conserving and protecting our natural resources and the community.
Patrons are encouraged to have face masks, although they are not required to attend and participate.
The Arbor Day tree giveaway presented by the Kaua‘i Landscape Industry Council is sponsored by Kukui Grove Center, Kaulunani Urban & Community Forestry Program, Corteva Agriscience, and Kaua‘i’s local supporters, plant growers and volunteers.
