What?
You weren’t early enough to get one of those free pumpkins the Kekaha Agricultural people (remember when we didn’t grow our own pumpkins? The problems of exploding pumpkins and rain in the early days of trying to grow pumpkins?) have been distributing at different events from early in the month starting in Kekaha?
There’s one last chance on Saturday (nope, they weren’t available for the early-birders last week at the Master Gardener tent!) when the pumpkins are available (while supplies last) at Grove Farm Market starting from 9:30 a.m.
Adding to the frenzy of the season, visit Flora Worth at Kaua‘i Culinary Market (when did it change back from the Pop-Up Farmers Market?) at The Shops at Kukui‘ula (they have Trunk or Treat with Harvey Maeda and the Kaua‘i Classic Cars on Friday from 4 p.m., too!) where the Po‘ipu Food and Wine Festival kicks off with the Chef’s Demonstration where patrons get to see the Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts students work their magic with portions available for purchase … a part of the proceeds benefit the Kaua‘i CC culinary arts program.
The big event, in addition to the cooking classes available at Monkeypod Jam (register online, please!) is da Pa‘ina on Friday featuring an all-woman guest chef lineup, which includes more than a half a dozen graduates (and successful!) from the Kaua‘i Community College Culinary Arts Program … www.poipufoodandwinefestival.com for tickets and more information.
And, don’t forget to register (online at www.kukuigrovecenter.com) for the Halloween Festival and Costume Contest on Saturday at Kukui Grove Center from 10 a.m., Saturday until 2 p.m … that’s a day after Freaky Fridays that benefits the Aloha Dance Studio on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Wow! That’s a lot! Stay safe, and don’t get lost.
