LIHU‘E — The Grove Farm Museum invites people to join them on the lawn of the museum for two free movie night events, one taking place on Oct. 27 and the other on Nov. 3.
Gates to the event open at 5:30 p.m. with the movie starting at 6:30 p.m. on both nights.
People attending the event are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. A tent and benches are being provided by the museum.
Food and concessions will be available for purchase on both movie nights.
Films on Oct. 27 include “Pau Hana Days” and “Long Sugar,” which is a film about the historic sugar plantations on Kaua‘i.
“Pau Hana Days” is an interview done in 1973 with Mabel Wilcox about her family home (that is now the Grove Farm Museum), plantation life and plans for historic preservation.
On Nov. 3, the Grove Farm Museum will present “Kaua‘i Plantation Life,” which is a film with interviews of former sugar plantation workers that will transport the movie-goer to the days when sugar covered the island.
The Grove Farm Museum, acquired in 1864 by George N. Wilcox, is a 100-acre homestead in the center of Lihu‘e that includes the original plantation main house, owner’s cottage, guest cottage, old office, and other residential and plantation workers’ housing camp.
