OMA‘O — The Hilloween returns to the Oma‘o Dirt Track for the fourth time when gates to the Hilloween 5K Trail Run and Keiki Trick-or-Treat Run opens on Oct. 28 at Oma‘o Dirt Track.
Proceeds from the event support the Kaua‘i Ballet Academy dance scholarship fund for dance tuition scholarship for youths in need.
Check-in for the 5K Trail Run starts at 7 a.m. with the run starting at 8 a.m. The Keiki Trick-or-Treat run starts at 9:30 a.m.
Organizers said the 5K Trail Run is an exciting off-road course with spooky hills, creepy obstacles and magnificent views of the island’s South Shore. The course is no longer than 3.1 miles, and organizers encourage the wearing of costumes with prizes presented for the Best Costume and Fastest Times.
The first 100 trail runners to register will be guaranteed a stylish event T-shirt. Organizers added that new for this year, all Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation cross-country runners are able to sign up for free.
The Keiki Trick-or-Treat Run is for youngsters aged from birth to 12 years old. Organizers said it is a short, easy off-road course with trick-or-treat stations along the way. All participants receive a Hilloween tote bag to haul their goodies in.
The Kaua‘i Ballet Academy Foundation said the Knudsen Trust has generously opened their land to the public for this Hilloween event, which is made possible by the Garden Island Motorcycle Club.
The Hilloween runs are sponsored by CAN, Ghost Longboards, Koloa Landing, CJM Country Stables, Makana Charters, Kalaheo Dental Group, Da Booze Shop, Brick Oven Pizzs, Clear Medical, Lawai Market, ‘Ohana Physical Therapy, R.O.C.K. Physical Therapy, AMCON Construction, Kaua‘i Plumbing, Sunrise Foundation, Jason Carnegie Photography and Kaua‘i Ballet Academy.
