Congratulations, Mia Lynn Ramos of Waimea High School — the “Central Pacific Bank” sign on Hanapepe Stadium looks really good, Coach Jon Kobayashi, and Coach Lois Keamoai! — on being named the 2023 Homecoming Queen who was escorted by her father on Saturday as the high schools wrap up this year’s homecoming circuit … Kaua‘i Christian Academy should field a Miss Fall Festival — another name for homecoming — to reign over its Fall Festival that opens on Friday … the Dinos (short for ‘dinosaurs’ like the T-Rex) will be out on Saturday afternoon at the North Shore campus.

Kudos to Jonell Kaohelauli‘i on getting her daughter Senia to help distribute the free collapsible water jugs on Saturday … you could get more premiums like rice paddles, water bottles (yes, collapsible, too), and low-flow showerheads by spinning the wheel at the Department of Water tent at the weekly Grove Farm Market (Farmer Mayette Loseto had three varieties of eggplant, including the one they use at Ho’s Chinese Kitchen, and the long one that’s longer than her shin!) as part of the DOW’s participation in Imagine A Day Without Water … mahalo to all the visitors that stopped to comment on how good Kaua‘i water is!
OK, don’t forget the free pumpkins for keiki that’s going to take place at Pau Hana Market at Kukui Grove Center on Monday from 3 p.m., while supplies last. Kudos to those Kekaha Agriculture friends for the free pumpkins (remember those days when we didn’t grow these sought-after orbs here?) that wraps up this Saturday at Grove Farm Market … look for the special tent like the DOW’s!
