LIHU‘E — A number of projects are scheduled along local roads this week, as work crews seek to get in as many jobs as possible ahead of the pending rainy season, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in a weekly update.
The following is a list of projects expected to take place for the workweek ending Oct. 27.
Hanalei
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible for tree trimming and vegetation clearing in either direction between mile post .38 and 1.22, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road on Monday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kalaheo
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile marker 13.5 and 16.5, in the vicinity of Iona Road, on Monday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible for grass cutting in either direction between mile post 1 and 2.5 in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road on Monday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalihiwai
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction between mile post 25 and 27, on Monday, Oct. 23, through Thursday, Oct. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kealia
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, at mile post 10 and 12, on Monday, Oct. 23, through Thursday, Oct. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihu‘e
A lane shift to the right on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for installation of sidewalk in the southbound direction in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway (Route 51), on Monday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Wailua
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for seal coating and manhold repair in either direction between Kuamo‘o road and Kapa‘a Bypass on Monday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wainiha
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible for slope stabilization in the mauka lane (mountain side) between mile marker 6.63 and 7.07 in the vicinity of Ala Eke Road and Wainiha Powerhouse Road on Monday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for slope stabilization. There will also be short intermittent full closures of Kuhio Highway. Traffic in both directions will be maintained by contraflow.
