LIHU‘E — The Rice Street Block Party is back. The family-friendly party is set for Saturday, Oct. 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The annual block party will feature a wide variety of entertainment, including a keiki zone with a climbing wall, games, rides, live music, local vendors and a dedicated area for Play Streets Kaua‘i.
There will also be a kickball tournament at Lihu‘e County Park. The tournament will serve as a fundraiser for Maui wildfire victims, the County of Kaua‘i said on Wednesday.
Free parking is offered at Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall and Lihu‘e Civic Center.
To accommodate the block party, Rice Street will be closed off between Umi Street and Kalena Street from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 28. Umi, Hardy and Kalena streets will remain open during the block party.
However, the Route 70 shuttle service will bypass stops along Rice Street during the block party. As a result, riders are directed to utilize bus stops on Eiwa Street.
People in need of auxiliary aid or other accommodations due to disability are encouraged to contact the Planning Department at 808-241-4050. Requests should be made as soon as possible.
