Kudos, Justin Kaeo Kinoshita (Fire Chief Michael Gibson said it’s all him!) and all those volunteers (even Sol Kanoho was there from the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency) on hosting a great Fire Prevention Week launch that had a line waiting for the 9 a.m. start (did the Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics have a break in their swim meet so the swimmers could enjoy some of that educational fun?).

Coach Daryl Date was busy blowing up balloons, and Charlmaine Bulosan of the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center said she had to forego The Fall Festival (it was going on at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center) because she had the Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council installation gala at the Hilton Garden Inn (it’s American Filipino History Month!) Mahalo to the Agency on Elderly Affairs (Rose Manago of The Memory Keepers said she’s walking at the Alzheimer’s Walk when it takes place on the rescheduled Oct. 21 morning at Hokuala Golf Club at Timbers Resort!) for that “not for children” Kaua‘i Sweet Shoppe caramel. And, how many got those pink Friends of the Kaua‘i Fire Department shirts? Definitely a good time for everyone … Shaka Burgers, Aunty Manapua and all.
Kudos, too, to Laurie Yoshida and Uncle Charley Iona for stepping up when somebody ran into Stephanie Iona and kept her home (Teddy Arroyo, Pop Warner Wescon commissioner said Stephanie was texting all day) on a great Fall Festival that even Alex Soo of Aloun Farm came to spend time with Lyle and Vianne Tabata … Alex even brought over some O‘ahu team members to help distribute the more than 1,000 pumpkins.
