LIHU‘E — The fall roadwork season is underway on the island with crews largely focusing on grass cutting and trimming ahead of the rainy season, according to weekly updates from the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation and the County of Kaua‘i Department of Public Works.
The following is a list of roadwork projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday, Oct. 6. All work is weather permitting.
‘Ele‘ele
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible for grass cutting in either direction between mile marker 0 and 3.5, in the vicinity of Kaumuali‘i Highway, beginning Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Hanama‘ulu
A lane shift on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for sidewalk installation in the northbound direction between mile marker 0.78 and 2.58, in the vicinity of Kuenene Road and Kapule Highway, beginning Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Kealia
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction between mile marker 11 and 14, in the vicinity of Kapoli Street and Pu U Hale Loop, on Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lawa‘i
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass trimming in either direction, between mile marker 9 and 11, in the vicinity of Upa Road and Lauoho Road, on Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihu‘e
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for emergency repair to utility lines in the northbound direction between mile marker 4.5 and 5, in the vicinity of the Wailua Golf Course and Leho Drive on Monday, Oct. 2, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Portions of Pikake Street between Nawiliwili Road and Nuhou Street in Lihue will be subject to lane closures for restriping and reinstallation of pavement markers on Wednesday, Oct. 4, to Monday, Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Princeville
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile marker 1 and 9, in the vicinity of Hanalei Hill and Haena Beach Park, from Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
