KALAHEO — A residential structure fire on Pu‘uwai Road in Kalaheo caused an estimated $350,000 in damage on Thursday, Sept. 28.
Firefighting personnel from the Kalaheo and Hanapepe fire stations responded to the scene after receiving a report of a blaze at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Thursday.
“According to a preliminary report, fire personnel arrived at the scene shortly after 11:15 p.m. and found the fire on the main floor,” the Kaua‘i Fire Department (KFD) said. “Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and extinguished the blaze.”
Rescue 3, the KFD Fire Prevention Bureau, Kaua‘i Police Department personnel and an on-duty battalion chief also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported and the scene was cleared at approximately 1:35 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Kalaheo fire is the second in the past week on the island coming a few days after a blaze torched 12 acres in Anahola on Sunday, Sept. 24, and Monday, Sept. 25.
The Anahola blaze led to the discovery of 40 abandoned jalopies, as well as tires and trash in a remote area near Kukuihale Road and Pilipoli Road, the KFD said.
