Yolanda Nalani Kaleiohi
Yolanda Nalani Kaleiohi
Yolanda Nalani Kaleiohi, 76, passed away on Aug. 14, 2023. She was born in Lihu‘e on April 13, 1947, and worked as a campus aid at Kapa‘a High School.
She was preceded in passing by parents Peter and Mary Ramson, husband Ellsworth Abraham “Opu” Kaleiohi, siblings Adam Gilbert Ramson and Lydie Kawaihalau.
Yolanda is survived by son Ellsworth (Kehau) Kaleiohi, daughter Marisa Kaleiohi, grandchildren Lilia Rapozo-Kaleiohi, Saebre Kaleiohi, Kaumuali‘i Rapozo-Kaleiohi, Doza Kaleiohi, Sealei Kaleiohi, great-grandson Alekona Andersland-Rapozo-Kaleiohi, siblings Lorraine Cadauas, Harvey Ramson, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Oct. 14, at Anahola Club House. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. followed by service at 12 p.m. The family suggests casual attire.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nancy Fuertes Ueno
Nancy Fuertes Ueno passed away on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at her residence, at the age of 84 years old. She was born on Sept. 2, 1939, in Makaweli, Kaua‘i. She worked for the Office of Elderly Affairs, with the County of Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by husband Gareth Ueno, sister Shirley Medeiros, parents Basilio Fuertes Sr. and Rosario Lutao Fuertes.
She is survived by sons Ryan S. (Kathy) Baniaga of Kalaheo, hanai son Tony (Heather) Howland of Oma‘o, daughters Sandra Baniaga-Brown (Kent) of Nevada, Sharla Baniaga of Poipu, Raenella Fuller of Texas, grandchildren Marcy Brown, Morris Brown, Brysen Baniaga, hanai grandson Bryce (Sweetie) Howland, brothers Basilio Fuertes Jr. of Kekaha, David Fuertes of Kapa‘a, sisters Anita Malama of Waimea, Carmen Cierra of Honolulu, Victoria Fuertes of Kapaau, Rose Mary (Allen) Saraos of Waipahu, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at a later date. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Minako Rabasa
Minako Rabasa passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at the age of 87. Minako was born May 17, 1936, in Japan. She was a retired Army veteran wife having lived in Germany, Africa, Korea, Okinawa, New Jersey, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Texas, Arizona to finally settle to Hawai‘i.
Preceded in death by husband Juan “Johnny” Rabasa, parents Bunkichi Hattori, Yukio Izumida, brothers Takeo Hattori, Shigeo Hattori and Mitsuo Hattori.
Minako is survived by daughter Shirley Dennis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sons John (Anne) Rabasa of Santa Clara, California, Jimmy Rabasa of Lihu‘e, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild, sisters Ayako, Sumiko, Keiko, brothers Isao, Katsuo, Sueo, along with many other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Minako’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.

Diasdado Layaoen
Diasdado Layaoen passed away on Aug. 22, 2023, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, at the age of 65 years old. He was born on Feb. 6, 1958, in the Philippines. He worked as a ground maintenance at the Kapa‘a and Lihu‘e Marriott.
He was preceded in death by Cresencio Layaoen, Florentina Alipio and two brothers.
He is survived by wife Judith Layaoen of Lihu‘e, daughters Chesaley Layaoen of California, Dyann Layaoen of Kaua‘i, Creesha Layaoen of O‘ahu, grandchildren Connor White, Cole Fernandez, brother Joseph (Jocelyn) Layaoen of the Philippines, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at Garden Island Mortuary. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m., a celebration of life at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at the Lawa‘i Cemetery. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Kith ‘Nalu’ Silva-Lacro
Nalu passed away on Sept. 7, 2023, at the age of 28 years old, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. He was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, on Dec. 1, 1994. Nalu was an amazing person who loved hunting, fishing, and worked with Gill Construction Company. He had a contagious smile and was always there to help others. He’ll be deeply missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by father Edward Lacro, maternal grandparents Paul P. Sr. and Helen Silva, uncles Noland Silva, Orlie Kimble, Joseph Grace, paternal grandparents Vicente and Teodora Lacro.
He is survived by mother Paula Bacio, sisters Phrystal Bacio, Larlyn (David) Fitzpatrick, Laynette (Tim) Parbo, Leslie Lacro, Leilan Kolaski, brothers Lyman (Erika) Lacro, Chad (Amberlynn) Rita, Chaz Rita, numerous, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane Sadamitsu
Jane Sadamitsu, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Sept. 8, 2023, in Lihu‘e at the age of 92. She was born on Sept. 28, 1930, on Kaua‘i. She was a clerk.
She was preceded in death by husband Wayne Sadamitsu, parents Giriyo and Yoshie Oyadomari, brothers George (Misao) Oyadomari, Dwight (Mabel) Oyadomari, Kenneth (Doris) Oyadomari, Thomas (Leck) Oyadomari and sister Alice (Edward) Hisley.
She is survived by sons Michael (Cynthia) Arashiro of Honolulu, Daryl Arashiro of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughters Dena (Joel) Sumida of Wailua, Lisa Dimitrov of Waipahu, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother Jimmy (April) Oyadomari of Kaua‘i, sister Ruby (Walter) Saito of O‘ahu, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service was held.

Annie Wahinekula (Apo) Lacro
Annie Wahinekula (Apo) Lacro, 74, of Waimea, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, on Dec. 28, 1948.
She was a retired cafeteria helper at Waimea High School and a member of the Wai‘aka Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was an avid Bible reader, loved to cook for family gatherings, enjoyed doing word search puzzles and watching cooking shows. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren and her beloved pet cuckatoo, Pearl.
Preceded in death by parents Samuel Apo Jr. and Katherine Makuaole Apo, brothers Bernard Makuaole Sr., Gary, Samuel, Alvin, Gilman, Darrell Apo and David Koani.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Julian Lacro of Waimea, daughters Myra (Adrian) Lacro Castaneda of Hilo, Jennifer (Frank) Lacro-Iwai and Maureen “Mahe” (Sam) Lacro Vegas of Kekaha, three grandchildren Kaena, Blake Micah and Häloa.
She is also survived by the close knit bond of her siblings Kathy (Dennis) Eastman of California, Dal (Gordon) Tremaine of O‘ahu, Dani (Jim) Newman of Washington state, Sandra “Nani” (Henry) Silva of Hilo, Kaleo (Laverne) Apo of Oahu, Kaeo (Debbie) Apo of Hanapepe, Roy (Petra) Apo of Arizona, Clifford Apo of Waimea, Hartwell (Judy) Apo of Kalaheo and her aunt and mentor Grace Acain of Kekaha, sisters-in-law Margaret Lacro of Waimea, Esther Lacro of Kona, Diane Apo and Sandra Makuaole of Kekaha, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on the grounds of the Pakala Plantation Estate at 1000 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.
Glenn ‘Slack’ Odo
Glenn “Slack” Odo, of Waimea, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 78 years old. He was born on Nov. 11, 1944, in Waimea. He was a heavy equipment and auto mechanic at the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands. He also was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents Hidemi and Sadako Odo.
He is survived by wife Lorene Odo of Waimea, daughters Amy (Elliott) Jung of Waimea, Nancy (Ernie Taylan) Yonahara of Waimea, grandchildren Kayla Jung, Aliyalana Taylan, Ariann Taylan, Arris Taylan, brothers Wayne Odo of Waimea, Chris (Diane) Odo of Honolulu, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts) and that flowers be omitted.
