Nestor Domingo Dumayas Sr.
Nestor Domingo Dumayas Sr., 66, passed away on Sept. 5, 2023. He was born in Marcos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Feb. 2, 1957.
He was preceded in passing by daughter Geralyn Dumayas, parents German and Carolina Dumayas and sister Naty Roladen.
Nestor is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Nida Dumayas, children Harold (Charisse) Dumayas, Nestor Dumayas Jr., Gerold Dumayas, Ronald Dumayas and six grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Oct. 7, at St. Sylvester Church in Kilauea. Viewing begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at Kilauea Japanese Cemetery.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Minako Rabasa
Minako Rabasa passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at the age of 87. Minako was born May 17, 1936, in Japan. She was a retired Army veteran wife having lived in Germany, Africa, Korea, Okinawa, New Jersey, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Texas, Arizona to finally settle to Hawai‘i.
Preceded in death by husband Juan “Johnny” Rabasa, parents Bunkichi Hattori and Yukio Izumida, brothers Takeo Hattori, Shigeo Hattori and Mitsuo Hattori.
Minako is survived by daughter Shirley Dennis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sons John (Anne) Rabasa of Santa Clara, California, Jimmy Rabasa of Lihu‘e, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild, sisters Ayako, Sumiko, Keiko, brothers Isao, Katsuo, Sueo, along with many other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Minako’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Rabasa family with arrangements.
Wayne Kiyoshi Badua
Wayne Kiyoshi Badua, of Waimea, passed away on Aug. 18, 2023, at the age of 81, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1942 in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was a retired banker for First Hawaiian Bank and served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by parents Vidal and Takeyo Badua, brothers William and Takeshi Badua.
He is survived by wife Lilian Badua, daughters Stacia (Steven) Haban, Vida (Joe) Vicuna, sisters Anita Edwards, Edna Bayot, grandchildren Nainoa, Jhett and Sachi.
A private celebration of life will be held at a future date. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
