Kudos to all on a very exciting weekend that centered around the high school sporting world. That includes the opening of the new Kaua‘i High School gymnasium, Kaua‘i High School homecoming week which included a community parade and pep rally, and Waimea High School hosting back-to-back Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation sports events — the cross-country races (Kaua‘i High School Homecoming Queen Savannah Hubbard ran in that one, and Logan Hanna missed it because she was helping at the Ke Kama Kai ocean safety clinics), and the KIF air rifle matches (kudos, Masao Fontana on the Senior Night!). Mahalo, Divina Plowman (daughter Caitlyn did the national anthem honors at Saturday’s football games) for keeping all the names and numbers on track.

Next up is Kapa‘a High School, which celebrates homecoming on Friday when the Warrior football team hosts Waimea High School before the OC16 broadcast cameras at Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex.
The football game is Friday because the night before — on Thursday — the OC16 crews will be broadcasting from the new Kaua‘i High School gymnasium, which will host four of the KIF varsity girls volleyball teams on the same night.
Finally, Edie Ignacio Neumiller, the Kaua‘i representative to the Hawai‘i Commission on the Status of Women, reminds everyone to wear pink on Monday, when the Kaua‘i Committee on the Status of Women hosts the familiar Breast Cancer Awareness walk starting at 11:30 a.m.
