WAILUA HOMESTEADS — A garage fire at a residence caused about $30,000 in damage on Saturday.
The fire was reported at approximately 11 a.m. on Molo Street, the Kaua‘i Fire Department (KFD) said. A number of firefighting personnel responded to the scene.
“Once on scene, they found a single-story home with visible smoke coming from the garage door,” the KFD said.
“Firefighters quickly entered the house to access the garage with an attack line, located and extinguished the fire. After checking the attic, responders also confirmed there was no fire extension and the fire was contained in the garage.”
Firefighters from Kaiakea, Kalaheo, Kapa‘a and Lihu‘e responded to the scene. Rescue 3, KFD’s Fire Prevention Bureau and an on-duty battalion chief also responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported. All occupants and pets safely exited the residence before responders arrived. The scene was cleared at approximately 12:15 p.m.
