LIHU‘E — With all five team girl shooters firing in the 200-plus range over three positions, Waimea High School outpointed the Island School girls — 1,159 points to 1,020 — to take the first match of the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation air riflery season at Waimea High School range.
The Menehune men, led by the high score of Fredy Padamada, added to the Menehune sweep by outpointing the Voyagers 1,156 points to Island School’s 1,013 points.
Based on the results of Saturday’s matches, it appears a showdown is in the works when Kaua‘i High School travels to Waimea High School for its matches on Saturday.
Kapa‘a High School will host Island School at its range set up inside Bernice Hundley Gym.
First shots are fired from 10 a.m. at both locations.
Over at the Kapa‘a High School range, the Kaua‘i High School boys and girls team earned victories after Kapa‘a High School could not field the minimum team shooters.
The Kaua‘i High School girls team finished the day with 1,177 points. The Red Raiders boys team finished with 1,222 points.
