Cyrus James Kekoa Kanoho
Cyrus James Kekoa Kanoho passed away on Aug. 17, 2023, in Warrenton, Oregon. He was born on April 13, 1999, in Lihu‘e, Hawai‘i. Cyrus lived most of his life in Oregon, but was proud of his Kaua‘i roots. He made such a huge impact on everyone he met. Always putting the needs of others before his own. Everyone who knows him always talked about his beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
Cyrus is survived by his parents Venus (Steve Beeman) Kanoho of Anahola and Burl (Lisa Grimes) Kanoho of Seaside, Oregon. He also leaves behind his siblings Chynoa and Anela Kanoho of Hawai‘i, Keao (Jack Larson) Kanoho and Ashley-Rose (Tim Ueland) Kanoho-Ueland of Oregon, nephew Zander and nieces Karli-Rose, Phoenix and Lorriann all of Oregon. His grandmother Barbara Soto of Kapa‘a, aunts Debra Bonilla of Anahola, Becky (Lance) Horka of Puhi, uncles Rawlin (Cheri) Kanoho of Salem, Oregon, Charles Soto of Honolulu and Henry Kanoho Jr. of Anahola, numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Robynne Kanoho and grandfathers Charles Soto and Henry Kanoho.
Cyrus’s celebration of life was held in Oregon, with another one being planned for Kaua‘i. The family would like to share a website made especially for Cyrus. http://flyinhawaiian.cafe
The Reverend Alejandro ‘Alex’ Geston
The Reverend Alejandro “Alex” Geston, 84, of Ewa Beach, Hawai‘i, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023. He was born on Dec. 11, 1938, in Bontoc, Philippines.
As part of his lengthy pastoral career, Father Geston served as the Vicar of St. John’s (‘Ele‘ele) and St. Paul’s (Kekaha) Episcopal Churches from 1980 — 1989.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Simeona, daughters Christine Takahashi (Dennis) of Hilo, Deborah Nishihira (Cy) of Honolulu, Eunice Fukunaga (Devin) of Ewa Beach and Teresita Geston of Virginia. He is also survived by grandchildren Chelsea, Scott, Gavin, Taylor, Toni, Ethan, and Claudia.
Father Geston was predeceased by his parents and six brothers.
Services will be held at The Cathedral of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Honolulu, on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. Visitation from 9 a.m. followed by the service at 10 a.m.
Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
