Happy “10 Years in Beer” anniversary to Jim Guerber, Larry Feinstein (he wasn’t fishing at the yacht races) and all the fine hands at the Kaua‘i Beer Company, who will be celebrating on Saturday with “old school pricing,” food specials and live music and dancing with Napali Coasters at “the place between work and home” that’s located a stone’s throw away from Kalena Park … watch for the 10th anniversary of Kickshaw’s, who used to be one of the Thursday Truck Stop regulars, too.

Kudos, Elton Ushio, Solomon Kanoho (he’s Sue Kanoho’s husband who had to rush off to catch a flight to Maui), and the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency on hosting all those Department of Defense Innovative Readiness Training team members to help us square away our emergency management plans and the storm-worthiness of our public shelters (Best Available Refuge Area is their term). Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, whom Elton said became known for his TikTok performances during the COVID-19, was excited the IRT people got to tour Coast Guard Kaua‘i where, if they were lucky, maybe get to pilot the boats.
