KAPA‘A — Miss Cheryl of New York City will be a special guest when the Center for Spiritual Living Kaua‘i (CSL), an intentional spiritual community, hosts its Fourth annual Fun-Raising Telethon, “Movin’ On Up,” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 2.
Tickets are available to be part of the live audience of the telethon that will help CSL Kaua‘i with its anticipated move in less than two months to an expanded space at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission.
“We hope you will join us for this fourth annual ‘Movin’ On Up’ Fun-Raising Telethon. We have so many plans for our expansion,” said the Rev. Patrik Feren, co-founding spiritual director.
”We are creating new programs, including an outreach choir and labyrinth program, a new empowerment education curriculum, a worldwide speaker’s program and an uplifting concert series. This move has shown us what is possible when you believe that what you are doing is making a difference in the lives of so many.”
The Rev. Rita Andriello-Feren, his wife, said, “We have made a commitment to take Center for Spiritual Living Kaua‘i and its Institute of Magnificence to its next level of service to the world.”
The telethon was birthed during the 2020 pandemic out of necessity, and allowed CSL Kaua‘i to stay connected during a dark night of the soul, said Melissa Mojo.
Thanks to the generosity of the global community and the telethon of 2020, CSL Kaua‘i never missed a Sunday. It also continued many of its important programs, paid monthly bills, and was still able to give back to the island of Kaua‘i and the world through its tithing program.
Ten percent of everything CSL Kaua‘i earns is given out to organizations and people who nurture the island and world.
CSL Kaua‘i believes in the Law of Circulation, and since its start in 2013 has contributed more than $146,000 in donations.
Telethon leaders said 10 percent of everything that comes in during this telethon on Sept. 2 will be donated to Maui’s relief fund.
Joining Miss Cheryl on the airways are Kaua‘i talent, including Feren, Andriello-Feren, Mojo, Hank Curtis, Jeremy and Aimee Brown of Soulgood Family Duo, Kyle La Benz, Jivan, Anna Myers of Yoganna, Luis Padilla and The East Side Rhythm Tribe, Rev. Dr. Walt Weiss, the Rev. Diane Decker, Stream Backinoff, Jonathan Lee, Sue Buckley, Janet Carafe and others.
