LIHU‘E — A variety of roadwork is scheduled to take place this week with night work in Hanama‘ulu, as well as the Wailua area, which continues to draw the most activity, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in a weekly update.
The following is a list of lane and shoulder closures set to take place. All work is weather permitting.
Hanamaulu
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for road reconstruction and temporary striping in either direction between Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kapa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, in the vicinity of Niu Street and Kealia Beach Park on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kealia
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for paving and striping in either direction, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Moloa‘a
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, between mile post 16 and 17, from Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for installation of project signs, setting up of staging area and tree trimming in either direction between Ohiki Road and Hanalei Plantation Road from Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Puhi
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass trimming in either direction, in the vicinity of Kikowaena Street and Pu‘uana Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wailua
An alternating single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction, in the vicinity of North Leho Drive and Kuamo‘o Road, from Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge repair work along the Wailua Plantation Bridge, also known as Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial bridge.
A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
A two lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for lane smoothness grinding and striping work in either direction between Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, Tuesday, Sept. 5, through the morning of Friday, Sept. 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
