LIHU‘E — A number of lane and shoulder closures are on tap this week around the island with the heavy lifting being done in the Wailua area, according to a weekly update from the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
The following is a list of scheduled closures, weather permitting, for the workweek ending Friday, Aug. 25.
Anahola
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction between mile post 16 and 18, from Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Hanamaulu
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for road reconstruction and temporary striping in either direction between Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, each night through the morning of Friday, Aug.25, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kealia
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for paving and striping in either direction in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, each night through Friday, Aug. 25 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Puhi
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass trimming in either direction in the vicinity of Anonui Street and Maluhia Road, Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Wailua
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the northbound direction between South Leho Drive and Wailua Bridge through the morning of Friday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. for sewer manhole rehabilitation work in the left turn pocket at North Leho Drive. Motorist can use the the left turn at south Leho Drive.
A left lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for offloading sheet piles for Wailua Bridge repairs between North Leho Drive and Kuamo‘o Road on Monday, Aug. 21, through Wednesday, Aug. 23, along the Wailua Plantation Bridge (Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Bridge) from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible at any time in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
A two-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for lane smoothness grinding and striping work in either direction between Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, Sunday, Aug. 20, through Friday, Aug. 25, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for geotechnical borings in either direction between Kapa‘a Bypass Road and Kawaihau Road through the morning of Friday, Aug. 25 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be contraflowed through the work area.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in the southbound direction, between Kapa‘a Bypass Road and Wailua Alternate Road on Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
