LIHU‘E — A number of lane and shoulder closures are scheduled this week with the main emphasis continuing to be in the Wailua area, where day and evening roadwork is expected to take place, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in a weekly update on Friday.
The following is a list of scheduled roadwork, weather permitting.
Anahola
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction, in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road and Kapuna Road, on Monday Aug. 14, through Thursday Aug. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Hanama‘ulu
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for road reconstruction and temporary striping in either direction between Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, through the morning of Thursday, Aug. 17 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kalaheo
A right shoulder closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for tree trimming in the westbound direction between Koloa Road and Kuli Road, Monday, Aug. 14, through Thursday, Aug. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be a lane shift through the work area and intermittent full closures for a maximum of 5minutes at a time to remove dangerous branches overhanging the roadway.
An alternating single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction between mile marker 10.6 and 11.3, in the vicinity of Waewae Road and Anuhea Place, from Sunday, Aug. 13, through the morning of Thursday, Aug. 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for waterline work related to the Kuli Road and Lauoho Road Intersection Improvement project.
Kealia
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for paving and striping in either direction in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road through Thursday, Aug. 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Koloa
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass cutting and guardrail clearing in the westbound direction between mile marker 4 and 6, in the vicinity of Pu‘uana Road, Monday, Aug. 14, to Thursday Aug. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Puhi
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction between Anonui Street and Kipu Road through the morning of Friday, Aug. 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for clearing and grubbing, excavation, backfilling and paving.
Wailua
Single lane closures on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible in the northbound direction between South Leho Drive and Kuamoo Road on Monday, Aug. 14, through Thursday Aug. 17, from 8:30 p.m. to 4:a.m. for sewer manhole rehabilitation work in the left turn pocket at North Leho Drive. Motorist can use the left turn at south Leho Drive.
Right shoulder closures and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
Two lane closures on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible for smoothness grinding and striping work in either direction between Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, Sunday, Aug. 13, through Thursday, Aug. 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Single lane closures on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible for geotechnical borings in either direction between Kapa‘a Bypass Road and Kawaihau Road on Monday, Aug. 14, through the morning of Friday, Aug. 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for geotechnical borings. Traffic will be contraflowed through the work area.
Wailua Homesteads
A single lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) is possible for grass cutting in either direction in the vicinity of Mala Road and Aina Pono Street, from Monday, Aug. 14, to Thursday, Aug. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
