Kudos to Kapa‘a (includes all those places “north of Wailua”) on getting one of the rare Trazee awards for being the Favorite Beach Towns! Kudos to the Heiva I Kaua‘i, and the iSiva Fireknife Crew (the Michael Drake ‘ohana!) for their contribution to making it happen … Jo and Tepairu Manea even took in the debut of the bird documentaries that was part of the Honeycreepers Celebrtation Day.

Kudos to Julia Diegmann, of the Kaua‘i Forest Bird Recovery Project, for spearheading the effort along with Birds, Not Mosquitoes in getting their efforts at recognizing the importance of birds in the ecosystem (even Kaua‘i County Council member Dr. Addison Bulosan — where is that new mural? — took in the documentary debut to demonstrate the council’s support for the efforts).
A reminder that Kukui Grove Center will be hosting a series of family-friendly events on Saturday from 10 a.m. to celebrate and invite the community to reconnect with birds (not just honeycreepers) and their role in nature …check out Trysen Kaneshige and his ‘ohia and birds creation, and Mark Jeffers brings his children’s (adults invited, too) parade to Kukui Grove Center.
Edwin Vea reminds people that The Beach House Craft Fair with more than 40 vendors (and live Hawaiian music) takes place on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
