LAHAINA, Hawai‘i —The death toll has climbed to 80 in the wildfires that devastated parts of Maui earlier this week, the County of Maui said on Friday evening.
“Firefighters continue working to extinguish flare-ups and contain fires in Lahaina, Pulehu/Kihei and Upcountry Maui,” the county said in a Facebook post.
The number of fatalities was updated from 67 this afternoon.
