LIHU‘E — A number of lane and shoulder closures are scheduled for local roads this week with the bulk of the emphasis continuing to be in the heavily traveled portion of Wailua, according to a work schedule released Friday by the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
The following is a list of the closures beginning on Monday, July 24.
‘Ele‘ele
A lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for surveying work on the westbound side in the vicinity of ‘Ele‘ele Road and Lele Road for guardrail repairs, on Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for surveying work.
Kalaheo
A shoulder closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for tree trimming in the westbound direction on Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., between Pu‘uana Road and MP 6.
Kealia
A two-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for paving and striping in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road through Friday, July 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kilauea
A single lane closure on Kuhio Hwy (Route 56) is possible for grass cutting in either direction between Ko‘olau Road and the vicinity of Ho‘okui Road on Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kipu
A lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for guardrail repair in the westbound direction between Kipu Road and mile marker 3.2, , on Monday July 24, to Friday, July 28. from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A lane shift on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in the westbound direction between the Kaua‘i Humane Society and Halfway Bridge on Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28 between 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be intermittent, full closures for a maximum of 5 minutes to remove down branches from the tree trimming
Oma‘o
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible for grass cutting and guardrail clearing in the eastbound direction between mile marker 4.5 and 8.5, in the vicinity of Maha Road, beginning Monday, July 24 through Friday, July 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wailua
A two-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible for smoothness grinding and striping work in either direction between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, each day and night of the week for Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible for lane smoothness grinding and striping in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamoo Road and Kapaa Bypass Road, through Friday, July 28, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Traffic will alternate in both directions through one open lane.
Wailua Homesteads
A single lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) is possible for grass cutting in either direction in the vicinity of Opaeka‘a Falls Lookout and Aina Pono Street from Monday, July 24 to Friday, July, 28 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
