LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i missed the brunt of weather event Calvin that started out as a hurricane in the Eastern Pacific zone. It wobbled on a path that took it close to Hawai‘i Island, but had none of the anticipated dangerous elements.
LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i missed the brunt of weather event Calvin that started out as a hurricane in the Eastern Pacific zone. It wobbled on a path that took it close to Hawai‘i Island, but had none of the anticipated dangerous elements.
After wandering southward, Kaua‘i felt little impact from the weather event that is now totally disorganized, to the west of the island.
“It takes only one storm to make you wish you were better prepared,” states an announcement flier for a free disaster preparedness event that takes place on Monday at Hanapepe Public Library from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday at Kaua‘i Veterans Center along the Veterans Memorial Highway at the same 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. time frame.
Sponsored by the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency, the University of Hawai‘i Sea Grant program, the state Department of Health, the American Red Cross, Kaua‘i, and Zephyr Insurance Company, the meeting invites people to “find out simple and inexpensive tips for helping one be prepared for disasters.”
