Alice Luck, of the Kaua‘i Planning and Action Alliance, was as good as her name when she found the blue envelope containing one of the prize giveaways on Thursday during the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce Mayor’s Luncheon that was sold out with more than 330 people at Koloa Landing Resort (did you park at the upper, or lower parking lot?).

Alice’s prize (she said she never wins, anything)? A free roundtrip to anywhere that Alaska Airlines flies. Jacob Aki, of Alaska Airlines, said there were two tickets (see what happens when you have to leave early?), and Mark Perriello (he and Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami attended the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative 21st annual meeting along with Beth Amaro on Thursday afternoon) searched every chair until they located the second ticket for the Kaua‘i Chamber.
Kudos to the Koloa Landing Resort Banquets crew, who never missed a beat with all those people (Kaua‘i High School Athletic Director Keli‘i Morgado was there along with several of the Red Raider coaches wearing different hats) … Coach Chance Bukoski said there’s a soccer clinic, Saturday, at Jeanette and Harry Weinberg Sports Park near Lydgate.
OK, time to go check out Koloa Plantation Days that also ties in with the 100th anniversary of the Koloa Union Church (parsonage tour, Monday from 2 p.m.).
