LIHU‘E — Hawai‘i Pacific Health announced the annual Keiki Bike Safety Day is at Wilcox Medical Center on Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m.
“We’re extremely excited to be hosting Keiki Bike Safety Day,” said Jen Chahanovich, president and CEO of Wilcox Medical Center and CEO of Kaua‘i Medical Clinic. “This kid-friendly, interactive event allows us to connect with our community and teach families the importance of proper bicycle safety practices that align with our mission to create a healthier Hawai‘i.”
The invitation to the Keiki Bike Safety Day is extended to all kids who enjoy riding their bikes, as well as those interested in learning how to ride a bike.
Keiki Bike Safety Day is free and open to the public. The event is in partnership with Kaua‘i Path, AlohaCare, American Medical Response Kaua‘i, Scouts of America Aloha Council, Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Life Flight, Kaua‘i Police Department, Keiki to Career Kaua‘i, and Wilcox Medical Center Concussion Prevention.
During the event, Wilcox Medical Center staff will help keiki riders get fitted for free dual-certified (bicycles and skateboards) helmets while supplies last.
Keiki riders can take these helmets to the helmet decorating station before trying out the gear on the bicycle skills enhancement course led by Kaua‘i Path.
AlohaCare will have a bike safety station set up, where keiki can have their bikes checked out to ensure they are operating safely.
Finally, a photo booth with props will be available where families can create a fun keepsake from the morning’s events. The photo booth will be set up in the Wilcox Medical Center’s back parking lot located past Same-Day Surgery.
