KAPA‘A — The Kawaihau Community Little League Minors division is a step closer to reaching the pinnacle of its division after the Kawaihau Minors All-Stars captured the District 1 title with a 7-3 win over Kainalu at the Hawai‘i Little League Minors Division District 1 championship game on Wednesday afternoon on O‘ahu.
KAPA‘A — The Kawaihau Community Little League Minors division is a step closer to reaching the pinnacle of its division after the Kawaihau Minors All-Stars captured the District 1 title with a 7-3 win over Kainalu at the Hawai‘i Little League Minors Division District 1 championship game on Wednesday afternoon on O‘ahu.
The win gives Kawaihau eligibility to the Hawai‘i Little League Minors Division State Championship tournament that will contest from July 21-26.
According to Little League guidelines, the 8- to 10-year-olds and the 9- to 11-year-olds culminate at state level play.
The Kawaihau Minors All-Star members include Kholten Panui, Ike Tydingco, Waika Doctolero, Ka‘ano‘i Rita, Chayson Manintin, Kahekili Inanod, Alaka‘i Fernandez, Kilian Bernal, Bruce Taylor, Trey Largusa, Isis Basuel, Nahoa Brede and Bubba Kuhaulua.
Kaili Panui, Keoki Planas, Makana Mardonada, Turtle Kuhaulua, Abe Kuhaulua, Chad Rita and Kaikea Saiki are the team coaches.
