HONOLULU — The Kapa‘a High School Cheer squad did well during the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp that was hosted by ‘Iolani School on O‘ahu over the weekend.
“This commuter camp was attended by 15 Hawai‘i high schools, including the first and second place coed state champs — ‘Iolani and Radford high schools, respectively — from last year,” said Roseanna Jerves, one of the Kapa‘a Cheer coaches. “Kapa‘a placed top 5 in the dance routine competition, and was awarded the gold star ribbon, a top honor from the camp.”
Individually, Lilinoe Jerves and Rilee Anama were selected to the UCA All American team following competition among 60 other top Hawai‘i high school cheerleaders.
Additionally, Lilinoe Jerves also took home UCA Pin Awards.
Universal Cheerleaders Association, founded in 1974 by Jeff Webb, educates both coaches and cheerleaders on National Federation of State High School Associations standards and industry-leading cheer techniques.
During the 2022-23 school year, Kapa‘a High School Cheer earned the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation title.
