Kathleen Christina Ladera
Kathleen Christina Ladera went home to be with her Lord at her home in Hanama‘ulu. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Feb. 21, 1943, and passed away on May 26, 2023.
She was a graduate of Maxwell Vocational School in Brooklyn and later moved to Kaua‘i, and became employed at The Garden Island newspaper, retiring after 40 years of service.
She was active with Kalaheo Missionary Church, serving as a visitation worker and helping in kitchen duties of the church.
She married Robert Ladera of Kealia, and had two sons Robert (Bobby) and Michael.
She was preceded in death by mother Grace Yon Gallart, father Pablo Yon Gallart, husband Robert Ladera Sr., son Michael Ladera and brother Pablo Yon Jr.
She is survived by son Robert (Bobby), brothers Tony (Reba) Yon Gallart of Michigan, Carlos Yon Aponte of Puerto Rico, sister Ada Fe Yon Aponte of Florida, first cousin Barby Shaw of Georgia, brother-in-law Wesley (Priscilla) Ladera of Hawai‘i, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A special thanks the members of Kalaheo Missionary Church, Kaua‘i Hospice and to Rebecca Zamechik for her loving care towards Kathy.
A memorial service is Saturday, July 15, at Kalaheo Missionary Church at 10 a.m. Refreshments will follow.
Erlinda ‘Erla’ Bukoski
Erlinda “Erla” Bukoski passed away on June 15, 2023 in Lawa‘i. She was born on April 30, 1949, in Lihu‘e. Erlinda worked for the Hawai‘i Department of Education as a teacher and was a lifelong creator and crafter.
Erlinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband Michael Bukoski, parents Hilario Leanio, Juanita Malate Leanio, brother Hilario “Larry” Leanio Jr., father-in-law Manuel Bukoski and stepmother Eva Leanio.
She is survived by daughters Claressa (Frederick) Casticimo, Kristen Bukoski, grandsons Erick Casticimo, Kolby Casticimo, Avery Casticimo, Micah Bukoski, Landen Kaneholani, sisters Marian “Judi” Madijanon, Mabel Espiritu, Donna Leanio-Ahuna, brothers Rudy Leanio, Eric (Michelle) Leanio, sister-in-law Loretta (Jim) Bonilla, mother-in-law Margaret Bukoski, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to join us on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa. Visitation is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with Mass to follow.

Patrick T. ‘Paddy boy’ Malama
King of the Na Pali Coast
Patrick T. “Paddy Boy” Malama passed away on Feb. 12, 2020, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea. He was born on March 30, 1944, in Waimea and was a long time cable installer for Derby Cablevision and Kaua‘i Cable.
He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Lucille Ku Malama, sisters Elaine Parker, Blubelle Kaowili, Barbara Westerdale, Kapio Ilae, Alma Nerez, brothers Joseph Malama Jr., Llwellyn Malama Sr., Vernon Malama and grandson Cyrus Malama Caveiro. He was followed in death by sister Abigail Estacio of Hanama‘ulu.
He is survived by his wife Pinky Ruth Momilani Leoiki Malama, sons Patrick “Kanani” (Tammy Takamura) Malama of Waimea, Jaime (Alisa) Malama of Kekaha, daughters Roberta “Pua” (Chucky) Remata of Kekaha, Raenette (Alton) Lopez of Kekaha, Jackie (Preston) Lee of Kekaha, Lolly (Mel) Malama of Kekaha, Desiree “Desi” (Daniel) Kittredge of Waimea, grandchildren Pomai (Jeff), Kailan, Jaecie (Javin), Anu (Kassie), Brandee (Sheldon), Byrlynn (Shane), Nakoa (Kai-lee), Taryn (John), Tisha (Justin), Tylan, Tyran (Jocelynn), Kaelin (Ivy), Leann (Chase), Jessica (Tyler), Geon, Reese, Anais, great-grandchildren Mikaylah-Jade, Kieran Sage, Baelee-Rose, Meliyah Grace, Khelton James, Nevaeh, Kingsley, Camron, Michael, Kainalu, Kamaehu, Kaliko, Ezra, Qhaysen, Qhaiyah, Taelynn, Taevanna, Kaio, Kauluwehi, hanai sons Kahalau Leoiki, John (Jodie) Kona, Burt Shimabukuro, hanai great-grandchildren Tiare and Te Moana Ruiz, Kawahine, Kahia‘ai and Arte Boy Palama, brothers Billy (Leona) Malama and Edmund Malama.
His long awaited celebration of life is July 15, at Kekaha Harbor House, starting at 2 p.m.
George Martin Rosenberger ‘Geo’
George Martin Rosenberger “Geo” passed away peacefully at home in Oma‘o, on June 21, 2023. George was born on Aug. 24, 1952, in Waimea, Kaua‘i to George H. and Nadine Rosenberger.
He was a graduate of Kaua‘i High School and University of Hawai‘i, Hilo, and operated a pest control co. on Kaua‘i for many years.
George is survived by his wife of 42 years Kerin, sisters Bernice (Billy) Otterbeck of Kinderhook, New York, Rebeca Finer of Wailua, Kaua‘i, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased in death by his parents George H. and Nadine and brother Albert.
As a keiki o ka ‘aina, Geo had a lifelong love of the ocean, especially Poipu Beach, where he swam as a child.
The family is grateful for the compassionate help of Hospice and Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
