KAPA‘A — The Center for Spiritual Living Kaua‘i will celebrate its 10th year anniversary at the Lydgate Park main pavilion from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
“We are celebrating 10 years of empowering lives on the island of Kaua‘i, and around the world through our events, classes and Sunday services,” said CSL Founding Spiritual Director the Rev. Patrick Feren.
Co-Founding Spiritual Director the Rev. Rita Andriello-Feren said, “Our mission is to awaken humanity to its magnificence, and we do this by celebrating each and every person as unique expressions of the unity of all.”
Everyone — either alone, or with friends — is invited to the Sunday celebration that will include a service with inspiring messages, and the local musical talent of Kyle La Benz and Soulgood Family’s Jeremy and Aimee Brown. The party will culminate with a potluck lunch and dancing.
“We strive to believe the best for ourselves and to live our lives from that consciousness,” said Feren. “It is all about practicing the principles of love and compassion in our daily lives.”
Feren and Andriello-Feren, the husband-and-wife team, were ordained as religious science ministers together in 2011 with a dream of beginning their own unique spiritual work. In 2013, Kaua‘i called them, where they founded the Center for Spiritual Living Kaua‘i, which currently has hundreds of members around the world.
CSL Kaua‘i actively outreaches to the local community and the world by livestreaming its services and events, as well as getting deeply involved with the community.
“In fact, one of our constants is donating 10 percent of our income back out into the local and global community,” Andriello-Feren said. “Over the past 10 years, we have donated more than $143,000 to organizations and individuals who spiritually nourish the world.”
The philosophy behind the Science of Mind and Spirit dates back thousands of years.
“In short, Science of Mind and Spirit is a synthesis of the best thoughts of the ages in that it encompasses the laws of science, opinions of philosophy, and the revelations of all religions — and applies it to current human needs and the aspirations of humankind,” Feren said.
As CSL Kaua‘i crosses the bridge of the past 10 years, on Oct. 1 CSL Kaua‘i will move to a leased property at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission, transforming the temple’s social hall into a sacred sanctuary with classrooms, office space, a youth area and theater.
“We are planning new programs for youth, a permanent labyrinth project, an inspiring concert series, a practitioner licensing curriculum, and many other events and workshops to inspire and uplife the island and the world,” said Andriello-Feren. “We invite all interested people and their families to join us on Sunday at the Lydgate large pavilion.”
Feren said, “We all have a lot to celebrate. CSL Kaua‘i has manifested a loving ‘ohana that most definitely continues to uplift the consciousness of the world.”
