Mahalo, Milani Pimental and the Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity ‘ohana, for planning the key-passing so there wouldn’t be a problem with the Puhi traffic congestion. Who at the West Kaua‘i Hongwanji bon dance said it was smooth sailing?

Mary Lardizabal came all the way from Kapa‘a after Jaslyn Aquias said her hula halau was working the fish pond, and she wanted to help. Muriah Moises (the Kaua‘i Lions had a big rummage sale — three tents blew over in the Kuhio Medical Center parking lot in Lihu‘e!) —to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life coming up in August. No, Mike Teruya, it’s going to be at Vidinha Soccer fields in Lihu‘e on Aug. 19. Muriah was working the fish pond, too. And Wayne Doliente said there was only a small line (Dr. Mike Oride didn’t know what he was waiting for) at the nishime station, so that was dinner.
Being at ‘Ele‘ele Iluna was just up the hill from the Friday Night Art in Hanapepe, where Talk Story Bookstore is going to host Kekaha writer Dom Acain on June 30 (his last appearance was distracted by the Waimea Town Celebration) for his work on the supernatural. Holly Ka‘iakapu (good stopping place for Coach Kawehi LouisDiamond. Her mom Marlo Medeiros’ 200-meter dash record is still intact), and Chef Ku‘u Breen didn’t let the rain stop her from serving up mac and cheese. Kudos to Behl Uyeno and Leslynn Uyeno on debutting the line of yaki (grilled) products, and where was Sumiko’s with the waffle dog?
Ah, it’s all right, beause Cherie Cabading of Partea in Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e said they have a bubble waffle dog in time for National Hot Dog Day coming up Aug. 5.
