Bert Masao Nishida
Bert Masao Nishida, of Hanapepe, passed away on June 5, 2023, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 76. He was born on Nov. 13, 1946, on Kaua‘i. He was an auto mechanic and business owner of Bert’s Auto Repair & Sales.
He was preceded in death by parents Takao and Chiyoko Nonaka.
He is survived by five sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.
A service will be held at a later date.

Alvin Hashimoto
Alvin Hashimoto, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away on Feb. 17, 2023. He was born on Feb. 24, 1936 in Lihu‘e. He worked as an engineer.
He was preceded in passing by his loving wife Dorothy Hashimoto, parents Masato and Yoshiko Hashimoto, sister Elaine Kashiwabara and brother Melvin Hashimoto.
He is survived by siblings Eileen (Will) Shimomura, Marlene (Herbert) Lum and Leslie (Margaret) Hashimoto, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is Saturday, June 24, at Lihu‘e Christian Church, beginning at 10 a.m. The family has kindly requested not to bring gifts.

Adriano Basada Villasista
Adriano Basada Villasista, 81, passed away on May 16, 2023, in Waimea. He was born on July 1, 1941, in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, and worked as a dairyman with Meadow Gold.
He was preceded in passing by his parents Juan and Perpetua Villasista and sisters Dominga Cartas and Lourdes Del Rosario.
He is survived by his loving partner of 47 years Erlinda Butac Marcelino, daughters Marilyn (Alejandro) Magno, Wilma (Marcial) Geronimo and Shirley (Brian) Shaw, sister Romula Alumbria, 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life is Saturday, July 1, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and requests no flowers.

Jose Abrojena Macalma Jr.
Jose Abrojena Macalma Jr., of Kaumakani, passed away on June 2, 2023 at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 71. He was born on Aug. 29, 1951, in the Philippines. He was an irrigator for the sugar plantation industry.
He is survived by sons Jay Alexander Macalma of the Philippines, Bryan Macalma of the Philippines and Joseph John of the Philippines, daughter Jennifer Rose Geronimo Macalma of Kaua‘i, significant other Josephine Fernandez Geronimo, four grandchildren, brothers Artemio (Ophelia) Macalma of California and Henry (Mariette) Macalma of California, sister Rose Macalma Buduan of Phillipines, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Friday, June 23, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa. Visitation is from 8 to 10 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
