LIHUʻE — The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) said Monday there will be an emergency single lane closure in the northbound direction on Kuhio Highway between the southern point of Wailua Plantation Bridge and Kuamo‘o Road from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
The closure is for deck inspections.
“This single lane closure will alternate between the northbound mauka and makai lanes of the Wailua Plantation Bridge. Traffic will contraflow through the open northbound lane, depending on the area of work,” the department said.
“The emergency single lane closure is needed to inspect the deck of the bridge following a finding during routine operations. The deck has been temporarily shored and there are no speed limit or weight reductions for Wailua Plantation Bridge at this time. HDOT will update the community on the findings of the inspection.”
Motorists are advised to expect delays and to proceed with caution through the work area. Please note all roadwork is weather permitting.
