Albert G. Moura
Albert G. Moura passed away on May 13, 2023 in Kalaheo at the age of 94. He was born on Jan. 14, 1929. He was a Korean War veteran and one of the most skilled machinists on Kaua‘i. His first job as a Machinist was at Kauai Pine. After the closure of Kauai Pine, he worked for Lihu‘e Plantation Company, where he retired after 40 years. He married his one and only true love Dorothy Texeira Moura 70 years ago, on May 23 1953. His love for his family was unconditional, always putting them first. He attended all of his grandchildren’s sporting events, and was their biggest cheerleader. He was a devout parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church where he devoted much of his lifetime as an usher.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph C. and Frances Moura, brothers Clarence and Wallace Moura and sister Angelica Tavares.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Texeira Moura of Kalaheo, daughters Marlene (Larry) Moises of Lawa‘i, Tanya (James) Brown of Indiana and Audrey (Wayne) Bonilla of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Brandon (Brandi) Moises of Waimea, Tyson (SheriAnn) Moises of Lawa‘i, Dustin (Kristi) Moises of Lihu‘e, Marissa (Mel) Purcell of Lihu‘e and Cody (Mele) Bonilla of Lihu‘e, great-grandchildren Braeanna Moises, Jeydon Moises, Avaeah Moises, Maiyah Moises, Noah Moises, Eden Moises, Shealee Moises, Kenzie Moises, Melia Purcell, MJ Purcell, Matai Purcell, Talan Bonilla and Haven Bonilla, sister Frances Freitas and sister-in-law Violet Moura, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on June 17, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Viewing is from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., and burial will be at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.
Wally Kailanipoinaole Kawahalau Sr.
Wally Kailanipoinaole Kawahalau Sr., of Hanapepe, passed away in Waimea on May 26, 2023, at the age of 58. He was born on May 17, 1965, on Ni‘ihau.
He was preceded in death by wife Laurice Kawahalau, daughter Sierra Kawahalau, father Leonard Kanahele, mother Cecelia Kanahele and sister Cecelia Beniamina.
He is survived by sons Wally Kawahalau Jr. (Cayla Akana) of Kekaha and Wailani Kawahalau of Las Vegas, daughters Chalani Kawahalau of Waimea, Cherie Kawahalau (Tresen Bisarra) of Waimea and Rochelle Kawahalau (Joe Bactad) of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Zavyn-Praise, Tre’ten, Kaizen, Kekai, Casen, Keahi and Kia‘i, brothers Leonard (Lavonne) Kanahele Jr. of Hanapepe, Danny Kanahele Sr. of Hanapepe, Gary (Susan) Kaohelauli‘i of Waimea, Winna (Carlie) Kaohelauli‘i of Hanapepe, Johnny (Lacey Rae) Kanahele Sr. of Kekaha, Johnston (Brianne) Kanahele of Wailua, Kunane (Kristalyn) Mersberg of Anahola and Evan (Reenee) Louis of Hanapepe, sisters Caryn (Tony) Bernaldes of Kekaha and Harriet Kauakahi of Kekaha, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kekaha on Friday, June 16, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at West Kaua‘i Enterprise Center. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Miyoji Furusho
Miyoji Furusho passed away on May 9, 2023, in Lihue, at the age of 98.
He was born on June 22, 1924, on the island of Hawai‘i. He was a carpenter, insurance salesman and owner of a pest control company.
He was preceded in death by wife Natsuko Furusho, brothers Tatsuyoshi and Hiroshi Furusho, sister Toyoko Yamashita, son-in-law Richard Down and grandson Jason Down.
He is survived by sons Craig (Lindy) Furusho and Russell (Lani) Furusho, daughters Vivian (Alan) Nozaki and Carol Down, grandchildren Aiko (Nate) Silva, Jared Furusho, Darrin Furusho, Kyle (Emily) Furusho and Jon Furusho, great-grandchildren Ben, Adeline, Malakai, Stephanie, Emi, Titus and Ezekiel, brothers Paul S. Furusho and Goro Furusho, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service is June 21, at the Hanapepe Church of the Nazarene, 4476 Pepe Road, Hanapepe. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by service at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Sumiko Iha Kondo
Sumiko Iha Kondo, of Kapa‘a, passed away on March 23, 2023, at the age of 88. She was a retired teacher at Kapa‘a Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Kondo Jr.
She is survived by daughter Teri (Jonathan) Ohta, grandchildren Joy, Allison and David, sisters Betty (Ken) Uejo and May Lupton, brother David Iha, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Kapa‘a Missionary Church on Friday, June 23. Visitation with the family begins at 10 a.m., and service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers and koden, donations may be made in Sumiko Kondo’s honor to Kapa‘a Missionary Church.
Robin Ramson
Robin Ramson, 68, passed away on June 8, 2023. She was born in Utah on April 24, 1955, and retired as a cashier at the Puhi gas station.
She was preceded in passing by father Edwin V. Wofford and sister Valerie Haunani Fa‘asoa.
She is survived by mother Mililani Wofford of O‘ahu, husband Harvey Ramson, children Krystal Ramson, Nicole (Aaron “Nori”) Chung of O‘ahu, Natasha (Philip) Ramson, Amber (Kaili) Ramson, and grandchildren Nathaniel Ramson-Soriano, Xaiteah-Maila Ramson, ‘Aina Chung and Aidan Ramson-Wheelock.
A celebration of life is Saturday, July 8, at Kapahi Park, starting at 11 a.m.

Eric Lynn Teruo Kajiwara
Eric Lynn Teruo Kajiwara, of Waimea, passed away on May 28, 2023, at the age of 69, in Waimea. He was born on Sept. 15, 1953, in Waimea. He was a primary troubleshooter.
He was preceded in death by parents Teruo and Ruth Kano Kajiwara.
He is survived by wife Jaedene Waiala Tremaine Kajiwara, son Jaime “Baba” (Lynnette) Kajiwara of Maryland, daughters Tiani (Ivan) Ruiz of Waimea and Taira “Banana” Kajiwara of Kaua‘i, grandchildren Waianuhea, Kawahinemaikalewa, Tiare, Paliku, Arte Boy and Temoana, brother Calvin (Julie) Kajiwara of Kekaha, sister Lorene (Glen “Slack”) Odo of Waimea, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, June 24, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow.

Jonathan David Carreira
It is with great sadness that the family of Jonathan David Carreira announces his unexpected passing on Feb. 14, 2023, in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 60.
He was born in Honolulu and moved to Kaua‘i after graduation from Kalaheo High School. He was the proprietor of Jon’s Service in Kalaheo until 1995, when he and his family moved to Oregon.
He is survived by wife Vita and their sons Justin and Nathan, his children Rani, Jahna, Makena, Jonathan and Robbie with his first wife Gina, six grandchildren, parents Al Carreira and Robbie and Elaine Reneau, sister Deborah (Ira) Johnson, brothers Alfred and Jeffrey (Rachel) and hanai brother Anthony Camacho.
A celebration of his life was held in Portland, Oregon.
Juana Taguiam
Juana Taguiam, of Kalaheo, passed away on May 22, 2023 at Queen’s Hospital. She was born on July 30, 1936, in Santiago, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She was a former housekeeper at Waiohai Hotel, and a participant in Senior Community Service Employment Program.
She was preceded in death by husband Rufino Taguiam, parents Eugenio and Julia Peralta and sister Pacita Peralta.
She is survived by son Ronald (April) Taguiam of Lihu‘e, daughter Jane (Tony) Garma of Phoenix, grandchildren Kristen Garma, Brandi Garma, Justin Garma, Davin Garma, Aron Taguiam and Alyssa Taguiam, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, June 17, at Garden Island Mortuary. Viewing is from 9 to 10:45 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m., and burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
