In collaboration with the Kaua‘i Humane Society, the Kaua‘i Beer Company (they were really good at the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a’s 31st Taste of Hawai‘i on Sunday, June 4, at Smith’s Tropical Paradise in Wailua!) is hosting an adoption event on Saturday, June 10, at the height of the King’s Parade.
In collaboration with the Kaua‘i Humane Society, the Kaua‘i Beer Company (they were really good at the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a’s 31st Taste of Hawai‘i on Sunday, June 4, at Smith’s Tropical Paradise in Wailua!) is hosting an adoption event on Saturday, June 10, at the height of the King’s Parade.
The Kaua‘i Humane Society will have “adoptable dogs” at the Rice Street restaurant in Lihu‘e (“the place between work and home”) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (go early to avoid the traffic closures), and all day, Kaua‘i Beer Company is setting aside a dollar a pint to benefit the humane society.
Bikes on Rice starts at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, from Kalena Park in Lihu‘e, and isn’t this Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market Saturday as well?
How about celebrating World Ocean Day on Thursday, June 8, with Surfrider Foundation and the Kaua‘i Society of Artists at the “Washed Up” exhibit artists’ reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e (that Monika Mira chicken is very impressive, and Laurie Ho likes the slippah kitties) .
Meanwhile, Mark Jeffers of The Storybook Theatre of Hawai‘i will have the inflatable humpback whales, Harmony and Melody, available for family fun from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 8 and 9, on the lawn of the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church.
Jean Souza said Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery is normally closed on Thursdays, but will have the World Ocean Day honu craft offering this Saturday, June 10.
And don’t forget the bon dance at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission this weekend, or the King’s Celebration for Kamehameha Day on Saturday, June 10 (the observance date is Sunday, June 11, the state and county holiday is Monday, June 12) with the parade (we have the full compliment of pa‘u princesses!) starting at 10 a.m. (roads start closing at 9:30 a.m.!), and the ho‘olaule‘a starting at 11 a.m. on the lawn of the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e.
