WAIMEA — There were ties when the Waimea High School Athletic Department announced its top student athletes for their outstanding performance, both in the classroom and on the athletic field or courts.

Outstanding Male Athlete saw a tie between Haweo Akeo and Robbie Correia. The Outstanding Female Athlete also resulted in a tie between Kayla Prigge and Sianni Sakai.
David “Kaio” Tsuchiya and Haweo Akeo missed the presentation in Clem Gomes Gym because they were in the midst of competition at the New City Nissan Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II boys volleyball championships taking place on O‘ahu.
Tsuchiya was named the Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete with Hope Newton getting awarded the Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete.
Jeremiah Harper was named the Army Male Scholar Athlete. Tehillah Matsusaka earned the Army Female Scholar Athlete honor.
Haley Zina and Akeo were named recipients of the Richard M. Doi Scholarships, and Hayley Ragasa and Kylen Parongao were named recipients of the Bunji Shimomura Scholarships.
