KAPA‘A — An early Saturday morning fire gutted two vehicles and a small structure on Kuhio Highway, causing an estimated $70,000 in damage, the Kaua‘i Fire Department said.
A number of firefighting units were dispatched to the scene of the fire at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, where firefighters found a small structure and two vehicles fully engulfed in flames at an undisclosed address.
“Upon arrival, firefighters saw neighboring residents using garden hoses to protect their properties from exposure,” the fire department said in a statement.
“The fire had also extended to a nearby coconut tree, and to the fence line where a utility line was down in the driveway.”
Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze in short order and extinguish all flames.
Kapa‘a firefighters were first on-scene.
