LIHU‘E — Saturday was historic for Kuku’s Aces, as the team notched its first win of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League season with a 13-8 victory over West Kaua‘i.
“Congratulations, Kuku’s Aces,” said J.C. Crouch of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball administrative team. “The aloha spirit is the best part of the entire Senior Softball community. Kuku’s Aces compete every week. They play hard, and then, do a lovely serenade at the the end to the other team.”
The Rookies retain its one-loss standing by allowing just one run from the Lihu‘e A’s in its 15-1 victory. The Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders dropped a heartbreaker, 18-17, to Kawaihau.
Ele Makule improved to 5-0 with its 16-3 win over Tsunami in the 70s Division, or Super Seniors. The Koloa Cane Cutters took a 24-9 win over Na Koa Kupuna, leaving Na Koa still looking for its first win.
“If you’re 70 and above, 55 and over, wahine, teams are still adding players,” Crouch said. “Come and enjoy the games.”
The 70s Division games play Fridays at Isenberg Park with the first pitch starting at 9 a.m., followed by a contest starting at 10:30 a.m.
The 60s division games move to the Kaumakani and Wailua Houselots fields on Saturday, with three games slated for each site. The first pitches at both sites go off at 9 a.m.
