LIHU‘E — Emerald Island Oral Facial Surgery Center announced that 3D imaging services, using the new Planmeca Promax 3DPlus scanner, are available in Lihu‘e.
The new scanner provides advanced technology to Kaua‘i oral surgeon David Russell, DMD, to see all aspects inside each patient’s mouth and jaws when preparing patients for oral surgery.
The Promax 3DPlus scanner is designed to provide patient comfort and accommodate any slight patient movement during scanning while delivering exceptionally low-dose radiation imaging. The uses for the equipment includes implants, wisdom teeth extraction and pathology, states a press release from Emerald Island Oral Facial Surgery Center.
The quality of the images produced by the new technology surpasses those available by the older technology.
Russell opened his oral facial surgery center in 1996, and in November 2022 relocated Emerald Island Oral Facial Surgery Center to 4381 Kukui Grove St., Suite 101, in Lihu‘e, across Nawiliwili Road from Kukui Grove Center.
A member of the American Dental Association, Hawai‘i Dental Association, Kaua‘i County Dental Society and the American Association of Oral and Macillofacial Surgery, Russell has many years of training in a hospital and specialty training in implantology, as well as in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He moved his family to Kaua‘i in 1996.
Russell has hospital privileges at Wilcox Medical Center and Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Emerald Island Oral Facial Surgery is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
