Clean elections
Aloha, just wanted to comment on article, “Clean elections bill dies.”
Does anybody else feel like blatant politics strikes again? Who wouldn’t want clean elections with able-minded candidates vying to do some good for the people?
Stop this good-old-boy mentality. Obviously, politicians in charge don’t want clean elections — they want dirty ones, which keeps their shenanigans intact. Current politicians don’t want anybody rocking the boat when it comes to donor perks.
It’s all about the money, not what’s best for our islands and the people. Why do you think we have so many pesticide companies on the islands? Greedy politicians putting money before common sense.
Do you think the pesticide companies are making large donations to keep our politicians in their pockets? You better believe it. It’s a known fact pesticides contribute to causing cancer, harming embryos, and when it runs into the ocean, which has been proven, can cause damage to our reefs and sea life.
Why would anybody allow that to happen to our beautiful paradise? So sad the almighty dollar trumps what the right thing to do is.
If we are going to make significant changes to our policies, we need new blood.
Politicians like Sen. Karl Rhoads, Rep. David Tarnas, and Chair Donovan Dela Cruz to name a few, need to be voted out.
Voting out career politicians would be a big step in the right direction.

I saw a lot of politicians like Donavan Delacruz. Fireworks. As a state senator I think on Oahu, they have to make it in by 28 years old to get paid with a degree. Meaning working in their district. 23 years old was for city councilmen. I think many of them are fakes. Not really doing anything and taking up space. But the rules of the game is still there. And money is involved.
