Kudos to the planning committee of the Kaua‘i Parent and Child Fair on a great event (one of the 30-plus vendors/exhibitors wanted to know if the event was bigger than Easter).
Retired educator Jeannie Odo, who started the event, (it was called the Sequential Transition to Education in Public Schools — STEPS — back then) was totally pleased that the event continues under the younger generation of leaders.
Castiel Abadicio, of the Kapa‘a High School JROTC, must’ve finished her chicken for the mural going up at Aloha Island Mart in Kapahi (kudos, Kapa‘a High School instructor Vanessa Owens and the Art Club on a great project!) on time (she had less than an hour to do the fowl addition). That’s because she was the Kapa‘a High School JROTC Color Guard leader on Saturday, where Mary Lardizabal, director of the Kapa‘a Middle School Chorus and ‘Ukulele Band (Loke Sasil leads the ‘ukulele band) said she’s looking for vendors for the Kapa‘a Middle School free Spring Choral and ‘Ukulele Band Concert that is open to the public, on Wednesday, May 10, at the school’s covered court.
OK, don’t forget, today is May Day at Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort Lihu‘e, thanks to the efforts of groups like the Kaua‘i Museum, which opens the Walter & Irmalee Pomroy Lei Contest in the morning, followed by Kumu Hula Troy Lazaro and Halau Ka Pa Hula O Hinano presenting a small craft fair (12 vendors?) at 3 p.m., and the doors to La Lei concert and hula opening at 5:30 p.m.
