Kudos, Marriott’s Kaua‘i Vacation Club on hosting the company’s “Bring Your Child to Work” day where associates could bring their keiki to work for job shadowing. In addition to learning about what parents do at work, the event provides associates with a greater sense of pride in doing their work and belonging to a firm that appreciates their ‘ohana.

Kudos, Kaua‘i Fire Department Prevention Bureau’s Justin Kinoshita, Andy Oda, and Ray Keahi for arranging to have the heavy rescue truck (yes, it has spare oxygen bottles) visit the Marriott keiki to get a better idea of how firefighters respond to auto accidents, hiking, and other rescue missions, and yes, the Prevention Bureau isn’t forgetting that October is Fire Prevention Month. Fire Chief Gibson (he was at the Save Our Shearwater new location blessing … how many SOS Aid stations are located at fire stations?) said he appreciated how Prevention Bureau stepped up to the task of working with keiki because the department’s other bureaus were already busy.
Kudos, too, Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative on the dedication of the new Anahola Service Center, where Kahu Wayne Vidinha of Ke Akua Mana Church got to finish the blessing he did during the groundbreaking for the facility in 2020.
Mahalo, Jeanette Otsuka Chang and her ‘ohana of Rowena Sablay, Rose Lalin, and Nena Castillo, who said she’s retired but Jeanette won’t let her retire, (and don’t forget the delivery crew), for putting a date on paper — Otsuka’s opens, starting May 1 at the former Pier 1 space in the Kukui Marketplace (that’s where Target is located).
