KEALIA — The state Department of Transportation announced that a single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kealia Road and Ka‘ao Road, May 1 through May 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass cutting along guardrails.
Kapa‘a
• Portions of Kawaihau Road will be closed, from May 1 to May 6, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, and roadway construction. The project will construct a peanut-shaped roundabout, sidewalks, paved shoulders, and various other roadway improvements, with an estimated completion date of October 2023.
Wailua
• A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail and drainage installation and striping between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, May 1 through May 5, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) are possible in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass, April 30 through May 5, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for lane smoothness grinding, striping layout and drainage work.
Lihu‘e
• A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in the westbound direction for tree trimming between mile markers 3 and 4, in the vicinity of Pu‘uana Road and Kipu Road, May 1 through May 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction in the vicinity of Hardy Street, May 1 through May 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for delineator installation and restriping work.
• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for utility work in the vicinity of Poinciana Street and Kunene Road, April 30 through May 5, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Koloa
• Portions of Weliweli Road will be closed for road resurfacing until May 11, weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Work will continue on Weliweli Road, between Ala Kino‘iki and Waikomo Road, from April 28 through May 4. Starting May 4, lane closures and one-way traffic will begin for portions of Weliweli Road, between Kaloa Road and Waikomo Road.
Kaumakani
• A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in the westbound direction for grass cutting and guardrail clearing between mile marker 18 to 21, in the vicinity of Pakala Beach, May 1 through May 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
