LIHU‘E — After finishing the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League’s first round 1 (and the entire 2022 Kaua‘i Senior Softball season) with an undefeated record, the Rookies suffered their first loss on Saturday, falling to Barteks 15-14 at Pat Baniaga Field in Hanapepe.
This was just one of several close contests in the league, where the Keonimana Gents were a one-run winner over the Bushwackas, 13-12.
Other close games included the Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders taking a four-run win over West Kaua‘i, 20-16, and Solid Steel taking an eight-run win over the East Kaua‘i Legends, 19-11.
Kaua‘i Senior Softball contests continue Saturday, with games scheduled for the Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a and Pat Baniaga Field in Hanapepe. First pitch goes off at 9 a.m. at both sites.
In the 70s division played Friday at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e, the Koloa Cane Cutters came up a run shy against Tsunami, 8-7, and the Ahukini Whart Rats are still looking for a “W” after coming up short, 6-3 against Ele Makule.
The 70s Division games play on Fridays at Isenberg Park, with the first pitch going at 9 a.m.
