Kaua‘i youth basketball coach Max Manera is planning to take five Team Lihu‘e hoops teams to tournaments on O‘ahu and Las Vegas later this season.
Kaua‘i youth basketball coach Max Manera is planning to take five Team Lihu‘e hoops teams to tournaments on O‘ahu and Las Vegas later this season.
The five teams, consisting of aspiring hoopsters in the fourth through ninth grades, abandoned the basketball courts (after their Saturday, April 15, 2023 scheduled games) to take up hoses, sponges, buckets and rags to host a car wash at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e on Sunday, April 16, 2023, to help with expenses connected with the off-island travel experience.
Team mom Noreen said the teams will be hosting a Krispy Kreme donut fundraiser on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Lihu‘e Walmart (Walmart General ManagerDiane Keeler goes to Kaua‘i High School girls softball games, too!). Call 808-651-8825 to order for pickup that day. Team Lihu‘e is currently participating in the Eastside Basketball program, and the county’s recently started youth basketball league.
Kudos, Edwin Vea of The Beach House Craft Fair (meets 0n the third Sunday of each month) for being able to squeeze in five more vendors (got to see Lauren Taylor Creations, who normally is just showing on the North Shore!) not counting the five food vendors (including cold brew from Donya McKnight of McFarms).
Madi Jimenez of Mailelani’s (no Merrie Monarch for her this year) said Kumu Hula Troy Lazaro and Halau Ka Pa Hula O Hinano (they’re opening the St. Theresa School Carnival on Friday evening, April 21, 2023!) will be hosting a Lei Day presentation on Monday, May 1, 2023 (same day as the Kaua‘i Museum lei competition) at the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort Lihu‘e,with a craft fair offering.
