Jean Leilani Marciel
Jean Leilani Marciel, 66, passed away at home on March 26, 2023. She was born on Feb. 16, 1957, in Lihu‘e, and worked as front desk sales receptionist at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort in Po‘ipu.
She was preceded in passing by parents William Sr. and Margie Marciel, and siblings William Jr., Judy and John Marciel.
She is survived by siblings Jane Ki‘ilau, Maryanne (Ed) Santos, Robert Marciel and Jay (Anne) Marciel, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is Saturday, May 6, at Nawiliwili Park, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Michael Henry Stephenson
Michael Henry Stephenson passed away on March 14, 2023, at the age of 74. He was born on May 25, 1948 in San Diego. He was a distribution manager for Sears Co. and a retired Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by father Henry Stephenson and mother Laura Evelyn Stephenson.
He is survived by wife Cilla Duclayan Akana Stephenson of Waimea, sons Norman “Kini” Akana of Waimea and Jeff (Selina) Hancock of Gilbert, Arizona, daughters Desiree Duclayan of Lihu‘e and Wendy Hancock of San Jose, California, 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are Saturday, April 22, at the Salt Pond Beach Park main pavilion, with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Military honors to start at 10 a.m. with services to follow.
The family requests aloha attire, and loose flowers or lei to be sent off to sea.

Kinu Matsumoto
Kinu Matsumoto, 95, passed away at her home in Lihu‘e on April 12, 2023. She was born in Japan on March 1, 1928. She worked on Kaua‘i as a tofu maker.
She was preceded in passing by husband Hitoshi Matsumoto and parents Muraji and Mineko Suekane.
She is survived by sons Richard and Paul Matsumoto.
Private services were held by the family. The family requests no koden or flowers.

Cindy Sue Ying Yamada
Cindy Sue Ying Yamada passed away on April 10, 2023, in Lihu‘e, at the age of 70. She was born on Jan. 31, 1953, in Hong Kong. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by father Ping Sing Woo and mother Mabel Chang Woo.
She is survived by husband Alan Yamada and brothers Winston Woo and Jeffrey Woo.
A service is Tuesday, May 16, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, with visitation from 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.

Kathleen Mahina Ohoku Malamalama Chamlal
Kathleen Mahina Ohoku Malamalama Chamlal, 39, passed away in Lihu‘e on April 12, 2023. She was born on July 29, 1983, and worked as a substitute teacher for the state Department of Education.
She is survived by husband Mohammed Chamlal, parents Herman and Arcenia Wilson, siblings Herman “Moke” (Sandy) Wilson and Matthew “Kimo” (Laurene) Wilson, Kimren “Bunny,” Keola and Allyssa.
Burial will be at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funearl Home on Tuesday, April 18, starting at 1:30 p.m.
