Coco Palms
Kaua‘i has a long history of developing first and worrying about infrastructure next.
Starting to redevelop the Coco Palms right now is a prime example of this.
It has taken how long to complete the road work in front of it (I’m not even sure if it’s complete yet) on Kuhio Highway? That has extended the Kapa‘a crawl into the Wailua wait for quite a while now, coupled with the amount of times the signal at Kuamo‘o is out of action, which creates a stressful situation for the largest population on Kaua‘i, which lives up in Wailua to exit and enter onto Kuhio Highway.
How is a resort going to work at this important junction on our little island? How will it work for the residents? How will it be safe for visitors to enter and exit? How will they get to the beach?
Where will they find employees when no other resort on the island can.
I’ve been here through both ‘Iwa and ‘Iniki, and detest hurricanes.
I hate to say it might be time for another one, but that is where my mind wanders at this point in time. If sensible minds cannot prevail maybe Mother Nature needs to.
