If the tie is black (er, how about dark gray?), then it must be Blake Hiranaka at the Mokihana Club performing arts scholarship auditions. Elyse Litvack said there’re still tickets for the Kalani Pe‘a (he’s a Grammy Award and Na Hoku Hanohano award winner!) concert that benefits the Mokihana Club Nursing Scholarships.

This is probably the last time anyone can see Kumu Hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin and Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina‘ala before they leave for this year’s Merrie Monarch Hula Festival (it’s going to be on television again this year!).
Everything goes down Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort near Hanama‘ulu. For tickets ahead of time, visit themokihanaclub.org (you can visit here to bid on the online silent auction items); the auction continues through April 11.
Kudos, Blake and Kenneth Hiranaka, and others who competed for the scholarship, who will have to wait until the Mokihana Club members (it’s a great event for lunch!) finish voting and get their results verified by the board before finding out where they finished in the auditions. Congratulations and best wishes on a great performing arts future!
OK, Sunday morning, the West Kaua‘i Lions Club hosts its annual Easter Egg Hunt in Kekaha across from the Kekaha Neighborhood Center (isn’t this the one former U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele brought his family to?), and the Kaua‘i Buddhist Council (bon dance coming soon!) hosts the annual Hanamatsuri, or birth of the Buddha, celebration at the Kaua‘i Soto Zen Temple Zenshuji in Hanapepe.
Happy Sunday!
